Love this new blog!! Just got my cup of tea and am sitting here looking at your pictures! Feel like I'm with you. The Huber Woods picture is so peaceful. Know just what you mean in your explanation about people having pre-conceived notions of New Jersey! Being a country girl from the Midwest, I always thought of NJ as just being a big city! I am so thankful to have you for a friend and learn new things and see new places! The New England states are on my list of places to go, things to do.....Hope to share it with you someday!! ...people to see!!!

Thank you Cindy and I feel the same about you!! I'm so glad you're enjoying this! I love this photo, it was taken just before that blizzard hit us before Christmas, just as the snow was starting to fall. (And you are one of the very few people who include NJ in the New England States anymore - I love that!!! We are indeed part of the New England States, as is NY!) I am feeling better today, thankfully!
That's so funny. I never thought of Jersey as a New England state or having a lot of cities.
I think of Jersey as a rural state. I guess that's because I was weaned on Jersey tomatoes.
I think it is not considered a Mid-Atlantic State.
What do you think about Pennsylvania, Cyndi?
I think people are unaware of just how much country and rural areas we have in both states.

Thanks Brenda! NJ is indeed one of the Mid-Atlantic states as well as one of the New England States! We're chock full of cities up north & down south (with many of our suburbs in between practically turning into them given their populations & over-development!). There are still a lot of country/rural areas in NJ but you really have to go hunting for them nowadays. Sprawl has taken over much of this state. The NJ I was raised in is worlds away from the NJ Hubby was raised in & so on.
Actually I meant to say that it IS a MidAtlantic state not a New England State. Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut. New Hampshire, and I believe one other state comprise the New England States. Maybe in the beginning of the country, but I think that all changed as we grew and were re-divided and re-categorized.
I know NJ has a lot of cities, but I really don't think of it that way because I am use to the farmlands and the suburbs and the shore towns of Southern NJ. Of course, much of the farms of southern NJ have disappeared too, but there are still more than people realize.
In any event, so much beautiful country and scenery to see!

Thanks Brenda! Sorry to disagree, but technically, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New England, Vermont and Maine are all considered the New England States even to this day! NJ & NY just aren't readily included as they used to be because we're, along with CT, considered the "Tri-State area" (which also sometimes includes PA - go figure!).
